Head Start: Advice for Newbies.1/5

Having some experience in mentoring young citizens during V1 and seeing how some countries struggle to retain and educate their new players, I’ve decided to pour what I know about V2 and find useful in a loose compilation of advices, which will be spread over five articles so they will be easier to digest.

If you are new to eRepublik then you're just the person this series of articles was written for - you'll find some useful information here which will answer most of your questions about the game play and it will help you survive as a newbie – you really could take a head start in this game if you take a minute or two to read this article. If you're already a more experienced player, please vote for this article nevertheless so the new citizens have less trouble finding it :)

First things first

Most new players who stumble upon this game by accident usually have just two questions: What's the point of this game, and how do I win it? Well, there isn't really one final goal you can reach to finish the game, but instead eRepublik provides several lines representing different aspects of eLife where you can set your own goals and try to be as successful as you can be.

Some are attracted by the life as a soldier, they join their national army or an independent paramilitary group to defend the interests of their eCountry or alliance.
Others are more drawn to politics and become active within a party of their preference to help define the course of their eCountry, possibly becoming a Congressman or even Country President.
Another purpose in eLife can be getting rich, either by playing on the Monetary Market or the stock exchange (ERX) or by starting your own company.
Still others dedicate their life to journalism, trying to inform or entertain the general public, or become society builders, by sharing their knowledge, nurturing young citizens and helping them integrate in their eCommunity.

Although the number of buttons in this game is pretty limited, the possibilities are almost endless, depending on your own goals and choices, but also on those of other citizens – when asked why they still enjoy this game after months and sometimes years of playing, most active citizens indicate that it’s the community that keeps them coming back, the friends and allies (and, why not, the worthy adversaries) they’ve made here who make eLife in eRepublik interesting. This will be the first, and probably the most important advice you’ll find in this series of articles – engage in social interaction, get to know some people, make friends. Don’t worry, most players will be happy to welcome you and to help you out in case of trouble.
