If you are new to eRepublik then you're just the person this series of articles was written for - you'll find some useful information here which will answer most of your questions about the game play and it will help you survive as a newbie

Health & Happiness

These are pretty important factors in your daily eLife. You lose some Health and Happiness at day change (00:00 eRep time), depending on your Health and Happiness levels at that moment and on the values of your house. Additionally your Happiness will decrease with 1 point for every hour you work, train or study, and your Health will decrease with 1 point every time you train or study and according to the quality (amount of stars) of the company where you’re employed for every time you work (so minus 3 points every time you work in a Q3 company, for example). You will also lose some Health and Happiness for moving (according the distance and the values of the moving ticket) and if you get hit on the battlefield (depending on the damage you receive from your opponent).

These are the most common ways to improve your Health and Happiness:
- Clicking the “Eat Food” button to consume the food in your inventory (the food that is in the first slot will then be consumed first). This way you can improve your Happiness and restore up to 300 Health points each day (if you fight several times a day, for example).
- Buying a house, which will limit the loss of Health and Happiness, or even improve them (depending on the values of your house), at day change.
- Chilling out in the Residential District will improve your Happiness (not Health!) with 1 point for every hour you relax plus the booster you choose (for example, the free booster will give 1 additional Happiness point).
- After you’re defeated in battle, your Health will be restored back to 70 points up to three times within 24 hours. Hospitals on the battlefield can restore your Health as well, but only back to the same level as you entered the battle, not more!
- You can also buy Health packs for gold, but as a new player you will definitely have better ways to spend your hard earned gold (like buying a house, for example).

But why is it so important to keep your Health and Happiness as high as possible? Well, a high Health and a high Happiness level will considerably increase your productivity - as an employee you’ll produce more when you work and you’ll make your employer happy; as a student you’ll receive more skill points when you go to the Library; as a soldier you’ll receive more weapon skill points when you train, and in a fight having a higher Health will allow you to take more damage, thus increasing your chances to be the winner. Furthermore, if your Health or Happiness is below 20, you won’t be allowed to work, and below 10 you won’t be allowed to train or study. With a Health below 40 you won’t be allowed to enter the battlefield. In other words, having high Health and Happiness is key to success in eRepublik.
